Popular photography: annual readers' contest - winner of landscape category
I won the landscape category of the Popular Photography's 2016 annual readers' contest with my image of Vøringsfossen in Norway. I was extremely happy for this award and it was nice to see my image in their printed magazine that just arrived by post. Unfortunately the 2017 March/April issue that I was published in will be the last ever popular photography magazine as they are forced to close operation after 80 years of continuous production. The first issue was printed in 1937 before world war two meaning that this was among the most established photography magazines in the industry.

I also received a mark of excellence from my other entry, which ended up in 6th place.
I was thrilled to hear that my photo from Lofoten was selected as a cover for the book featuring the best of Outdoor Photographer of the Year contest. The contest received more than 12K entries and the quality of them was astonishing based on the shortlisted images I browsed through. The image for the cover is a square crop of my panoramic version.

Shoot the Land - May Winner
I was happy to see that the very first image I finished after returning home from Lofoten won the 'shoot the land' photo contest. I've won this a few times before but I'm still glad of the recognition as there were many other fine shots in the contest! This was probably the last time I will enter that contest but as they say, never say never...

Shoot the land - August winner
I won the 'Shoot the Land' photo contest for the second time! I have participated in this contest 4 times of which I've won 2 so my percentages have been quite good... The prices are nice and it always feels good to win. This time it's a photo of Lago Federa from Dolomites, Italy that got the first price. This is one of my all-time favorites so was really glad to win this one!
Is That Your Best Shot? - February winner
This year really started well regarding photo contests! I won the February contest that had a landscape theme with another one of my Iceland waterfall photos 'Hidden Vista'.
'Is That Your Best Shot?' is a monthly international photography competition, much similar to the 'Shoot the Land' I won in January.
